Meet Executive Director
James W. "Pete" Woods

Pete Woods is a nationally recognized advertising and marketing professional who brings over three decades of experience advising organizations on the building and nurturing of their brands to targeted audiences. In addition to extensive business experience, Woods holds a BFA in studio art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a talented sculptor in his own right. Pete and his wife Tricia reside in Mooresville, NC and have three children, Alex, Katie, and Sarah.

“I feel fully supported by The Hiddenite Center’s excellent Staff and Board of Directors as we work together to sustain the quality of programming that this region has come to know and depend upon even as we build a greater awareness for all that the organization has to offer,” Woods went on to say. “It is our obligation and our privilege to ensure that Hiddenite Center programs provide fresh and relevant arts opportunities for diverse audiences. Visit the beautifully restored, century-old Lucas Mansion; now home to a dynamic folk and cultural arts center.

The Hiddenite Center, Inc. is a folklife and cultural arts educational and exhibition center located in Hiddenite, North Carolina. A three-story Victorian house has been restored to house galleries and offices. The Center is designed to afford experiential opportunities for Western North Carolina and serves as a prism to capture the energies contained within the area. We invite you to enjoy!

Free Nature Crafting Classes
During RockyFest 2015
Saturday, May 9th


Visitors to The Hiddenite Center's booth at RockyFest 2015 will have the opportunity to create this fun craft project called the RockyFest Nest. The craft project is free of charge and suitable for all ages.

The Hiddenite Center will host a free make and take nature craft booth at RockyFest 2015,which is held on Saturday, May 9th. The Hiddenite Center's booth will be open from 3pm-5pm and will offer visitors an opportunity to experience the arts by creating crafts with recycled materials and objects found in nature.

The Hiddenite Center Presents
Explore NC Heritage Fair
April 22nd -24th


The Annual Explore North Carolina Heritage Fair, one of the Hiddenite Center’s most vital educational programs, will offer students in Alexander and Iredell County hands on experience in learning heritage arts and crafts as part of their NC History education. The Heritage Fair will be held at the Hiddenite Center’s Educational Complex (70 Hiddenite Church Road) on Wednesday, April 22nd and Thursday, April 23rd and will be open to students in participating Alexander County Public Schools, Home Schools, and to the general public. On Friday, April 24th, the Heritage Fair will travel to Central Elementary School in Iredell County.

Hiddenite Center Expands Gallery
with Emerging Artists Exhibit Space

In an effort to enhance our services and offer greater opportunities for experiencing the arts, The Hiddenite Center has expanded gallery offerings to include a new exhibit space dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging artists. Located on the third floor of the Center's Lucas Mansion, the Emerging Artists Wall will feature monthly exhibits designed to bring greater awareness to the diversity and abundance of talent among artists and art students in the region.
